Color outside the lines

A children’s book created by Stephen and writer Em Frederick in response to the social divides occurring across the country.

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

- Nelson Mandela -

In the summer of 2017 protests and clashes broke out in Charlottesville over the assembly of white-nationalists supporters. A man drove a car thru a crowd of people because he hated their beliefs and wanted to hurt them for believing them. Heather Heyer lost her life because of that hate.

After the events in Charlottesville, Stephen and writer friend Em Frederick wanted to take action in response to the divide growing in the country. The idea was inspired by the quote above. We decided to reach out to the next generation and teach them love instead of hate. To do that we created a children’s story to show people that the world is a more colorful place when we exist in it together.
